Reviews

"A really special place, recently renovated to an excellent standard with many luxurious touches. Good quality beds and linens, fab showers and great water pressure. A brilliant location close to the sea and rail station which meant we didn't have to move the car for days. Picturesque village. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.B"

"The cottage was lovely. We especially appreciated how well-equipped the kitchen was and the helpful note from the owners with recommendations of local shops and restaurants. The cottage was comfortable and cosy for a winter break and nicely decorated. We have visited West Runton before so knew it was a great location. We’d recommend it for easy walking distance to the beach and coastal path, a couple of pubs in walking distance too, and a handy shop."

"It was a clean and homely cottage with a good use of space and lovely interiors. The beds were comfortable and the location fantastic. So glad we found this place! Lots to do in the area. We recommend Felbrigg Hall, the North Norfolk Heritage Railway (from Sheringham), The Puppet Tree, West Runton Beach, Cromer Beach and pier and Bewilderwood. We could have done more still, so we’ll just have to come back!"

Location

West Runton is conveniently located between two of North Norfolk's most popular destinations, Sheringham and Cromer. A quaint village, which offers several eateries and pubs along with shops and a range of local businesses.

St Joseph’s Cottage is approximately a 5-minute walk into the village and only 100 metres from West Runton train station. Stroll into the village and you will find “The Village Inn” which has a large beer garden and serves food - the ideal pub for sunny afternoons! Directly opposite the cottage is the Links Hotel and Golf Course, for golfers, the convenience cannot be overstated. It also includes a swimming pool and gym.

West Runton beach sits below sandstone cliffs offering a varied beach, with shingle on a high tide, before a large expanse of sand and rock pools is revealed as the sea drifts out. Keen fossil hunters will be aware that in 1990 the most complete example of a fossilised Steppe mammoth skeleton ever found was on West Runton cliffs, commonly named – The West Runton Elephant! A great story to tell the kids before they seek to make their own historic discovery. And after a busy day exploring, the Seaview beach café is always on hand for light bites and beverages.

For walkers and hikers, West Runton is positioned on a beautiful stretch of the Norfolk Coastal Path with stunning viewpoints and great sightseeing available to both the East and West of the village.

Sheringham is just two miles away from St Josephs Cottage, and can be reached on foot (40 minutes) or by car (8 minutes). Sheringham is a traditional seaside town with an award-winning beach, a heritage steam train and is lined with pubs, restaurants, cafes, and shops!

To the East of the village guests will find the bustling town of Cromer with its sandy beaches and world famous pier with End of Pier show at the Pavillion Theatre. Those feeling adventurous can also try surfing and paddle boarding at Glide Surf School, located right on the beach near the pier! Cromer is a 10-minute drive from the property or can be walked in just under an hour.

Whether you’re seeking a day by the sea, shopping in Sheringham, or enjoy beautiful cycling and walking trails, St Joseph’s Cottage presents the opportunity to enjoy all the best bits North Norfolk has to offer!
