"We had a great time at Millwood a family of 11 + dogs we had lots of space, especially outside, the house was presented well, we spent a lot of time outdoors due to the glorious weather. Would certainly recommend for a family get together."

"Plenty of space in beautiful surroundings. An idyllic location with great walks and river activities."

Karen C on July 2024

"We had a great family get together at Millwood. The house was excellent, clean, comfortable and warm. Lovely big rooms, 3 well equipped bathrooms, a big kitchen and utility space. There was ample space for parking, we had 4 cars in our party. The gardens and immediate area were stunning, enhanced by the Autumn colours. The dogs loved the large garden and walks from the door. There was a big utility space for dog beds."

"We had an amazing time at Millwood. There was 7 of us and we all had a choice to be together or to do our own thing as the house, garden and grounds surrounding the property are very spacious. This was specially important to me as I'm going through chemo treatment and this staycation allowed me to spend time with family and friends. We did walks, rod fishing, canoeing, kayaking, went to the beach. Its a great location with things to do on your doorstep. I loved it and we'll be back. Thank you"

Additional Information

Parking is available very near to the front door if you need it via a gravelled ramp, so for safety reasons drive slowly if you use this route.

Please be careful when using the exterior steps and patio area at the property. When the slabs are wet, they can become slippery as they're made from natural stone.

Location

Millwood is perched right by the River Bure, offering guests easy access for river swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing, fishing and more. The water can even be seen from the property as well as it’s grounds.

Just a few minutes away on foot, are several pubs, restaurants, takeaways, and cafes. A short 15-minute drive to the city of Norwich offers countless more options too. Roger Hickmans is a very fine dining experience for those who really enjoy their food. At Stoke Holy Cross, a 20-minute drive away, just south of Norwich is the Stoke Mill Restaurant and The Wildebeest. Both extremely good venues for eating out.

Norwich is also home to its own market in the centre and numerous shops (big names and independently owned), plus cafes and restaurants. There are two impressive cathedrals to visit, our recommendation is Norwich Cathedral which was built in 1145. The Castle Museum is also a fascinating visit. Look up "The Norwich 12" which gives you details of the most historic buildings in Norwich.

The Sainsburys Centre, situated at University of East Anglia, is an amazing international art museum with a world class art collection including one of the top ten sculpture parks in the UK.

The nearby town of Holt offers a great day trip out, so does Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, and the numerous RSPB sites in the local area which not only offer a look at the local wildlife but also show you the stunning Norfolk Broads. You can catch a broad’s cruiser from Wroxham, just 10 minutes away by car, for a tour by boat of the local broads or, you can choose to hire your own boat and explore yourself. There are fish and chips, restaurants, and shops to enjoy at Wroxham before or after your boat ride.

The Norfolk coastline is not far from the property, approximately a 25-minute car journey, where you can explore beaches and seaside towns. Cley-next-the-Sea has a beautiful windmill, and views across the marshes towards the sea. You can even have dinner there and stay overnight in the windmill if you book in advance. Winterton has a beautiful beach and a beach side cafe. Blakeney Point offers boat tours taking you out to see the seals. Book this before you set off. The villages along the coastline have many flint-built cottages and churches which are picturesque and very Norfolk. Always a pleasure to see.

* Worth noting : Whilst the property is set far back into it's own grounds, the quay opposite is a popular place for people to launch boats, canoes and paddleboards in the summer months.
