North Norfolk

Sea Palling

A sandy beach bordered by sand dunes, excellent for swimming and water activities. The beach is located in a small village and is a good halfway option for those looking for a quieter beach but with access to some amenities.

The beach

Sea Palling beach has been awarded Blue Flag status for several years and it’s certainly not difficult to see why. An absolutely gorgeous English beach with fine golden sand as far as the eye can see, even when the tide is in! Ideal for a day out with the family, there’s plenty of room for beach games and sandcastle building, not to mention amusements and trampolines just by the entrance to the beach. The beach is lifeguarded during the summer months (Mid-May to Mid-September).

You will notice rock formations out at sea, marked with warning posts, these were implemented as part of the Sea Defence Scheme in 1995 to protect the area from flooding. The result is a sandy beach with calmer waters ideal for swimming and floating on your inflatables. It’s also a popular spot for wind surfing, kite surfing and launching jet skis.

More about the beach

For most of the year Sea Palling is very calm and peaceful, a wonderfully quiet beach, fabulous for a relaxing day.

This beach can get busy during the height of summer, however because of it's length and great width there’s still often plenty of space. A visit will be sure to leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised.

The main access point for the beach is via a concrete slope on Beach Road, a short walk from the pay and display car park. There are restrictions on dog walking during the summer months.

The area

Surrounding the entrance to the beach there is a selection of entertainment and food options. There’s a small restaurant called the Reef Bar which serves traditional pub food, as well as the renown fish and chip shop, cafe and ice cream parlour.

If you need something to entertain the kids, then there’s also an amusement arcade, some small rides and a small trampoline park!

As well as cafes and amusements you can also find a Post Office, general store and farm shop selling locally caught fish!
Public toilets can be found close to the entrance for the beach.

If you still need more to fill your day there’s plenty of other options nearby. Why not hire your own bicycles from Sea Palling Cycle Hire on Waxham Road? Or take a trip to Hickling Broad run by Norfolk Wildlife Trust, ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers! Just 8 minutes down the road you also have Horsey Gap, a delightful place to go and see the seals and their pups (during breeding season).
